That's pretty great. For the first time ever, I'm able to play the Steam version of Pinball FX2 VR and have it be acceptable (used to use Link instead). Actually just set a new table record using VD. This would have previously been impossible for me with VD. Big takeaways for me (at least for sensitive games like PinballFX 2 VR): 1.)
90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars. Half-Life: Alyx isn't quite as revolutionary as you might hope, particularly if you're already well-versed in virtual reality, but it's undoubtedly one of the best games on the platform and hopefully the start of a resurgence for both the series and the hardware. Half-Life: Alyx is larger than practically every VR game to date, and navigating a full 3D environment can be disorienting (and a bit nauseating) at first. Valve has taken steps to make sure you know where to go and can easily navigate and move through the world, particularly through visual cues. It’s simple, really.
Played through the entire game on my original model Vive about a year ago and it worked great. Tried playing today with a Quest 2 (to enjoy dat sweet sweet high resolution) on the same computer via link cable and software and the lag was unbearable due to the Oculus Link software taking up a hefty ~40-65% of my GPU on top of SteamVR and the game itself. I tried setting the priority of the
Set additional launch options; Fix 1: Make sure your specs meet the requirements. VR games tend to be graphically demanding, not to mention this long anticipated AAA title. So before you can fully experience the well-crafted dystopia in Half Life: Alyx, first you need to make sure your gaming rig meets the minimum requirements.
Just start playing Alyx and then set the preferred height offset from AOVR's Offsets menu. But Alyx should work, it's most likely room setup related. I've used the offset for Serious Sam 3 VR and it worked fine for me in the seated mode. If you bring up the SteamVR menu while in game there is a button in the bottom right that resets your position.
Half-Life Alyx vs Half-Life 2 in VR. VR. I've played quite a lot the previous Half-Life versions /1 and 2/. Now that we have Alyx, which seems to be an amazing game by the graphs and in VR. But, I'm kinda new in VR and the tech seems to be expensive . Also, I've seen some companies doing third party VR stuff.
As others have said Alyx is arguably one of the best made for VR games out there, period. It set the bar for that every game is capable of and what VR is made for imo. Skyrim feels like a port at best, basically just tweaked cameras/controls but doesn't feel like it's any better in VR than 2D; Alyx simply couldn't be played any other way.
